Urinary antibody level and survival in bacteriuric institutionalized older subjects

Article Abstract:

A previous study showed that elevated urine antibody levels in institutionalized subjects with asymptomatic bacteriuria were associated with decreased survival. An observational cohort study was conducted to confirm earlier findings. Permanent residents from a large nursing home were identified by urine screening and bacteriuria. The study showed that older, institutionalized, and bacteriuric subjected with elevated urine antibody had decreased levels of survival.

Anterior cervical osteophytes as a cause of pharyngeal stage dysphagia

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to describe three cases outlining how anterior cervical osteophytes impairs epiglottic movement. Researchers evaluated 376 veterans aged 60 years or older. Forty patients were identified to have dysphagia which is secondary to cervical bony protuberances. The results revealed that cervical osteophytes are important factors in the differential diagnosis of dysphagia in older people.
