Associations of demographic, functional, and behavioral characteristics with activity-related fear of falling among older adults transitioning to frailty

Article Abstract:

Nearly half of subjects 70 years of age and older indicate that they have experienced fear of falling. Association of this fear with behavioral, functional, and demographic characteristics suggests that a multidimensional strategy is needed to reduce this fear in the elderly population.

Reduction in fear of falling through intense Tai Chi exercise training in older, transitionally frail adults

Article Abstract:

A study examining the effectiveness of imparting intense Tai Chi exercise training to older adults for reducing the fear of falling in them is presented. For the purpose of the study elderly persons who had fallen previously and were transitioning to frailty were considered.
