Calorie restriction in primates: Will it work and how will we know?

Article Abstract:

Two questions about calorie restriction (CR) as a means of slowing aging and extending lifespan and health in primates have not been answered: the question of what mechanism makes the method work and the question of whether it will work in humans. In short-lived mammals and lower organisms this method is effective. Aspects have been studied around the world since the inception of the idea 60+ years ago, but no CR experiments conducted in primates have been sufficiently long to find out definitively whether those on CR live longer or maintain functional capacity longer than controls eating what they wanted. There is evidence that diseases associated with aging occur with lower incidence in CR individuals.

Caloric restriction and caloric restriction mimetics: Current status and promise for the future

Article Abstract:

Longevity of the human beings can be increased by reducing the high caloric food consumption. Exercise is the best way to achieve the results. Results of the study conducted on mice to find out the caloric restriction are presented. Effectiveness of compound 2-deoxyglucose an anti aging pill is discussed.
