Consumer-perceived value: the key to a successful business strategy in the healthcare marketplace

Article Abstract:

Marketing health care services to Medicare patients is becoming very competitive and geriatricians must develop a business strategy to deal with it. They must decide which customers they wish to serve and do market research to determine what services these customers value. Then they must design systems that maximize this value at a cost the customer is willing to pay. They may have to create systems that give them a competitive advantage.

The war on health care fraud and abuse: peril for providers

Article Abstract:

Increasingly stringent fraud regulations are driving the need for accuracy in physician and health care system billings. Improper payments are a primary area of scrutiny, although research indicates that nearly half of these, or 44%, are attributable not to fraud but to documentation errors. Fraud losses are estimated at nearly 10% of all healthcare expenditures per year.
