Delirium is independently associated with poor functional recovery after hip fracture

Article Abstract:

A prospective cohort study with 126 subjects older than 65, of whom 79% were female, has been carried out to investigate the role of delirium in the nature history of recovery of function after hip fracture and surgery. Delirium was found to be common, persistent and independently associated with poor functional recovery even when pre-fracture frailty was considered.
