Discourse comprehension and problem solving: decisions about the treatment of breast cancer by women across the life span

Article Abstract:

A study of the attitudes of 169 women to breast cancer treatment revealed that younger women in the sample emphasized on extensive information prior to decision making pertaining to the selection of specific treatment procedures, while older women sought very limited information in comparison. However, the older women spent less time in opting for their desired treatment procedures.

The role of age and perceptual symbols in language comprehension

Article Abstract:

A study was done where older and younger participants read sentences about objects and were then shown a picture of an object that either matched or mismatched the implied shape of the object in the sentence. In conclusion, older adults may construct stronger situation models than younger adults.

Why older adults make more immediate treatment decisions about cancer than younger adults

The reasons why older women suffering from breast cancer and older men suffering from prostrate cancer make more immediate decisions regarding their treatment than younger adults are presented.
