Effect of end-stage renal disease on the quality of life of older patients

Article Abstract:

A controlled cross-sectional study has been carried out to study the ef fect of end-stage renal disease (ESRD) on quality of life (QOL) of older patients. It was found that if dialysis initiation is planned, ESRD, in older patients has no more effect on QOL than other diseases, but that if d ialysis is unplanned, severely impaired QOL results. Predialysis care is important for these patients.
