Future longevity---Demographic concerns and consequences

Article Abstract:

Studies conducted by gerontologists around the world reveals the morality in old-age people increased significantly over the past years. Because of some incurable diseases the growth rate of the morality is not constant. But keeping the factors like improvement in the social and personal life standards this trend can be expected to continue in the near future.

Prospective evaluation of a screen for complex discharge planning in hospitalized adults

Article Abstract:

A screening system to evaluate patients who are being discharge but who are likely have repeat hospital admissions is examined. 991 participants underwent the Probability of Repeated Admission (PRA) screen. There was some correlation between a high PRA score and repeated hospital admissions, but not high enough to be statistically significant.

Different screening and assessment instruments are developed to enable healthcare professionals to determine elder mistreatment (EM). Progress in this field and review of existing instruments is discussed.
