Sociodemographic and health characteristics of older Chinese on admission to a nursing home: a cross-racial/ethnic study

Article Abstract:

The investigation of sociodemographic characteristics and health status of older Chinese newly admitted to a nursing home and the comparison with the residents from other social/ethnic groups are discussed. The findings suggest that Chinese residents are as frail as other racial/ethnic residents on admission.

Effectiveness of a multifaceted intervention on falls in nursing home residents

Article Abstract:

The effectiveness of a multi-faceted, nonpharmaceutical intervention on incidence of falls and fallers is evaluated. The incidence density rate of falls and fallers that differed considerably between the control and intervention groups is discussed.

Use of the agency for health care policy and research urinary incontinence guideline in nursing homes

Article Abstract:

The use of the Agency for Health care Policy and Research Urinary Incontinence (UI) Guidelines in nursing homes is assessed. Results indicate that assessment and treatment of UI is manageable but quality is not adequate.
