Article Abstract:

Successful retirees offer tips on how to achieve financial stability by learning how to get along well on less income. While many find the transition from being a wage earner to retiree difficult, some are able to live well on smaller budgets through a careful assessment of their priorities, wise investment, meticulous spending, a part-time job or a combination of these strategies.

Investing to beat inflation

A good portfolio can insure investors against inflation. One of the best consists of two $10,000 two-year Treasury bond ladder with a 6.3% yield, two $10,000 five-year notes with a 6.5% yield, two 10-year notes with a 6.9% yield, and diversified mutual funds. This would give 8.3% returns annually.
