Missing-data in epidemiological studies of age-associated cognitive decline

Article Abstract:

Epidemiological studies of age-associated cognitive decline may, despite dramatic data, underestimate true dementia levels in older people. Research into effects of aging seems to have some methodological problems. Nonresponse and attrition are rarely random phenomena, if ever, and are much more prevalent in older participants than in younger ones. More accurate epidemiological aging research with more follow-up is needed. Results of three studies in the US and the UK are discussed.
