What symptoms of depression predict mortality in community-dwelling elders?

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to determine which symptoms of depression are most likely to increase the risk of mortality in a biracial sample of older adults. The findings of the study suggest that subjective views of well-being might be more important predictors of mortality in older adults than the classic symptoms of depression.

A patient/family-focused approach is described in order to define the service and clinical needs. The quality improvement tools and processes were used to develop the practice within the context of the chronic care model.
