Postoperative pain management in elderly patients: correlation between adherence to treatment guidelines and patient satisfaction

Article Abstract:

A study to evaluate pain management satisfaction in elderly postoperative patients aged 65 years and older; to define pain management strategies documented in the medical record (MR) that predict patient satisfaction is presented. The results indicate that simple management strategies such as providing preoperative information will have positive influence on pain management.

Suboptimal prescribing in elderly outpatients: potentially harmful drug - drug disease combination

Article Abstract:

A study on the prevalence and correlates of potentially harmful drug-drug combinations and drug-disease combinations prescribed for elderly patients at outpatients' settings shows that potentially harmful drug-drug and drug-disease combinations occur in various degrees in outpatient can in the elderly population.

Risk factors for surgical site infections in older people

The results of clinical investigations for identifying risk factors of surgical site infection in elderly persons are discussed. The study was conducted on elderly patients from North Carolina and Virginia.
