Providing for heirs: are annuities the best way?

Elderly persons often set annuities or retirement accounts to provide their beneficiaries with financial assistance which they can use for their future. However, annuities are subject to taxation and could cost the beneficiaries thousands of dollars in income taxes.

Retired persons can avoid taxes on their Social Security benefits by making staggered withdrawals on their retirement incomes. The money that is withdrawn should be large enough for a year's expenses while keeping below the taxable minimum of $25,000 a year.
