Giants strive for world domination

Article Abstract:

Competition is intense in the $100 billion computer games industry. The three largest players, namely, Nintendo, Sega and Sony, have been trying to outdo one another with their new games consoles featuring powerful 32-bit and 64-bit processors. It is not certain which among these companies will emerge victorious, but it is generally agreed that such victory could only be achieved with tremendous financial resources, strong determination and plenty of luck. Success in the computer games industry does not come easily given the cyclical nature of the market. Sales tend to be strong only during a product's early launch period, then they start to drop as consumers lose interest and look forward to the next generation of products. Other factors that games makers have to contend with are weak brand loyalty, the huge costs of development and marketing, and competition from the home PC.

Ice world

Article Abstract:

Multi-purpose arenas and large seating capacity may be necessary for future development of ice rinks. Smaller rinks may need to be incorporated into leisure centres. Stand-alone rinks may be unable to maintain long-term interest. Some larger rinks have therefore provided a facility for the staging of pop concerts. New venues such as the Ryde arena, Isle of Wight and Blackburn arena, England have incorporated multi-purpose facilities. Many smaller rinks for example at Doncaster, Plymouth and Grimsby have developed as part of a larger community facility.
