Self-reported social and emotional impact of urinary incontinence

Article Abstract:

Research on 206 individuals 40 years of age and older who have experienced urinary incontinence indicates that incontinence causes emotional and social burdens for sufferers. Although most respondents indicated that urine loss did not diminish self-esteem or restrict activities, more were likely to indicate they felt lonely, sad, or depressed compared to those who did not experience incontinence.
