Using structured implicit review to assess quality of care in the Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE)

Article Abstract:

Researchers describe a method for evaluating the care received by people in PACE programs. A randomized clinical trial of outpatient geriatric evaluation and management

Article Abstract:

This article examines the effects of geriatric assessment and management interventions on long-term functional ability and health service utilization among high-risk outpatients. Findings indicate that older patients who received comprehensive health evaluations and care management plans had a reduced risk for functional declines but no significant differences in health service utilization.

Outpatient geriatric evaluation and management

Article Abstract:

An outpatient case management program can be provided for elderly patients at a reasonable cost. A geriatric evaluation and management (GEM) program was provided to 248 community-dwelling elderly patients who were at high-risk of hospitalization. The program included a geriatrician, gerontological nurse practitioner, a nurse and a social worker. Over six months, the program cost an average of $1,540 per patient.
