Becoming an acquirer and becoming acquired

Article Abstract:

The mergers and acquisitions (M&A) of firms in Finland and the influence of research and development (R&D) activity, measured by the calculated R&D stock in bringing about the incidences of (M&A) are discussed. It was found that the R&D stock increases the chances that a firm acquires in all industries and that M&A were used as instruments to transit knowledge from one firm to another.
