Citizens respond to FDR's fireside chats

Article Abstract:

In "The people and the President: America's Conversation with FDR", Lawrence W. and Cornelia R. Levine have collected a sample of letters written to President Roosevelt by ordinary citizens after each of his "Fireside Chats". The abstracts of discussion with Mrs. Levine about the book and their research in the Franklin D. Roosevelt Library on Hyde Park, New York are presented.

Keeping the government out of the newsroom: a First Amendment imperative?

Article Abstract:

Attempts by law enforcement authorities to uncover the identity of those who disclose government information to the press without authorization, either though search warrants or subpoenas, are examined. The effect on press freedom of forcing journalists to provide evidence in government investigations is analyzed.

American POWs on Japanese ships take a voyage into hell

Article Abstract:

The NA RA activists reveal the story of John M. Jacobs with other American POWs who were held by the Japanese during World War II. The fate of the POWs who were on the five Japanese ships or the "hell ships" as described by the survivors is further described.
