Article Abstract:

A study explores the dream of the universal in both of its modes, first by following the spirit of theos and logos as represented by the Platonic embrace of totality enshrined in Socrates' unscrupulous rejection of rhetorical dishonesty and then addressing the mechanics of atomism in the case of Cartesian reduction. It then moves from theology to ontology, from the post-synthetic to the post-analytic, to connect the sociological destruction of such pretensions to absolute classificatory veracity.
