Do teenage girl magazines belong on middle school library shelves?

Article Abstract:

An incident in Haupaugge, NY, aptly illustrates the fact that many Americans do not understand the First Amendment although a poll has shown that most of them say they believe in it. The Hauppauge public school superintendent decided to remove several teenage school girl magazines from the middle school library against the advice of a committee of parents, teachers and librarians. The act stemmed from one parent's complaint and whose preferences were apparently used to control what all young people could read in the Hauppauge middle school library.

'The Ultimate Human Body: A Multimedia Guide to the Body and How it Works' CD-ROM teaches users about the three major areas of the human body, namely, the body, machine, body organs and body systems. Sound bites provide assistance in the pronunciation of words while graphics and animations are clear. However, one drawback of the software is its use of language.
