Flip side of the American dream: A scholar looks at losers

Article Abstract:

Author Scott A. Sandage, in his book 'Born Losers: A History of Failure in America' highlights the voices and experiences of losers, uncovering how the concept of failure evolved over the 19th century. He was inspired to write this book when he saw that success was a topic often written about by scholars and researchers but failure was a topic left unexplored.
