Football: A favored forum for troop support

Article Abstract:

The group of veterans dating back to the second world war team up with professional football clubs to boost morale among Americans fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq and the Seahawks organization has a history of reaching out and supporting veterans through ceremonies. The Seahawks organization and its owner Paul Allen always recognize members of the armed forces and their families by donating tickets and honoring their own in uniform.

'Outside the wire': Citizen-soldiers in combat in Iraq

Article Abstract:

The tragedy of a citizen-soldier is a loss of a community member as he is a parent, husband or wife and it adds to national pain when people from different forms of life die in a war and death of a citizen-soldier in Iraq increases the pain. A brief account of the services and sacrifices from a few of National Guard and Reserve unit who fought in Iraq are described which demonstrates the finest tradition of America's armed forces.
