The French film industry is characterized by a dynamic network involving a functionally disintegrated production system, an activist regulatory environment, and Paris as a specific locale. Topics discussed include the business organization of the French film industry, industry trends, distribution, markets, a two-tier production system, social regulation of the industry, location, local labor markets, the cultural logic of the industry, and the metropolitan context of Paris.

The cybernetic matrix of 'French Theory'

Article Abstract:

The influence of cybernetics in addition to structuralism, post-structuralism and modern philosophy on the development of French thinking post World War II is described. The entry of cybernetics oversimplifies the past authors and it highlights a difficult intellectual filiation that is bad for intellectual endeavor.
