Gender and education impacts on employment and earnings in West Africa: evidence from Guinea

Article Abstract:

A survey from 1,725 households in Conakry, Guinea was conducted focusing on the respondents labor market activities and earnings. Results showed that factors such as educational background, household structure, and gender significantly affect the employment earnings in three labor market alternatives (self employment, private sector wage employment, public sector wage employment). It is suggested that these barriers be broken so that there would be better and higher employment earnings for the citizens.
