Simulation, learning and R&D performance: evidence from automotive development

Article Abstract:

Simulation, as a tool for product design and innovation, manifests its advantages readily in the automotive industry, where the ability to reduce product design times and engineering analysis has resulted in cost-savings which increases resources for research and development. Simulation can also shorten the evaluation time for new designs, as well as spin-off products which enhances the firm's R&D capabilities and prestige.
