Innovation systems and technological specialization in Latin America and the Carribean

Article Abstract:

Performance inefficiencies were observed with regards to Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) nations' National Systems of Innovation (NSI). The region's science and technology entities are found to be ineffective in establishing a strong bond between government support organizations , businesses and academia. Contributing to the inefficiencies is the region's continued implementation of a public policy that is not fully productive.

Quantitative assessment of large heterogenous R&D networks: the case of process engineering in the Netherlands

Article Abstract:

An evaluation of large research and development networks was undertaken in the context of the Netherlands' process engineering. The nation-wide innovation-oriented network studied was found to be diversified, dynamic and moderately successful. Its performance in the aspect of technological development and innovation activities was found to be less satisfying than in knowledge creation and transfer.

Science policy in changing times: are governments poised to take full advantage of an institution in transition?

Article Abstract:

An attempt is made to indicate whether the science policy is positioned to take full advantage of and provide maximum assistance to an institution in transition. It is concluded that if the economic and social benefits of integrated arrangements in knowledge production are to be realized, there is a pressing need to modify the current institution of science and the policies that would underlie it.
