Iraq and Afghanistan vets are largest group of new members

Article Abstract:

The response to VFW recruiters from the young veterans is often discouraging as they think that it is mainly for the older ones and they will be misfits and bored. The organization can enhance its attraction for the younger ones by offering more information on the work they do like obtaining VA benefits, promoting itself to non-members through appearances at large public events and giving specially tailored messages for specific group of veterans and most importantly encourage the younger generation to take over from the older ones to carry on their good work.
