Linking actors and models for water policy development in Egypt: analyzing actors and their options

Article Abstract:

The technical and financial aspects of policy options and information in development of Egyptian water policy are examined, with an emphasis on the roles and interests of different actors. It is suggested that ignoring of actors is no longer an option, while option analysis is considered to be a useful technique.

The politics of wet system building: balancing interests in Dutch water management from the middle ages to the present

The water management technologies of Netherlands are presented. The different social interests in the practice of water management like flood protection measures, land reclamation, fresh water supply for agriculture, waste water disposal, recreation, fishing and military defense are discussed.

Bringing actors together around large-scale water systems: participatory modeling and other innovations

Article Abstract:

Proper water system management, which can rehabilitate ecosystems and ensure service reliability by providing electricity and drinking water, is discussed. A case study on this revealed that the participation of the modeling efforts is the key part of a successful water management system.
