U.S. interests and priorities at the CD

Article Abstract:

American representative to the United Nations Conference on Disarmament (CD) Robert T. Grey Jr. believes that nations should continuously pursue global peace and cooperation in disarmament and arms control. The CD serves as a forum for the discussion of these issues. The international community's criticism of the nuclear weapons testing by Pakistan and India signifies its commitment to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and to the CD's objectives. The negotiating priorities of Grey include the transfer ban on anti-personnel landmines and the fissile material cutoff treaty.

Analysis of biomedical research in Spain

Article Abstract:

Spanish biomedical research efforts for the years 1986-1989 were investigated using bibliometric and socioeconomic indicators to explain geographic distribution and institutional involvement. Results show that that autonomous communities exhibited great disparity especially with regard to Madrid and Cataluna. It is also shown that when research output is compared with the distribution of hospital care, the bifocal centralization was greater.
