Modeling state origins using cross-cultural data

Article Abstract:

The emergence of states was a main concern of archeology for many years and even though comparative methods have played an important role in these approaches, controlled comparisons employing large samples of cases and multivariate statistical methods of analysis are rare. Multivariate data coded for a large sample of archeological cases and a variety of statistical methods are used to empirically investigate state origins.

Cross-cultural research as a Rosetta stone for discovering the original homelands of protolanguage groups

Article Abstract:

The combination of two kinds of cross cultural research, namely, worldwide ethnographic information and worldwide archeological information can provide a Rosetta stone for inferences about cultural variation and evolution. An effort is made to find the original homelands of two well-established language families, Proto-Aforoasiatic (PAA) and Proto-Indo-European (PIE).

Predicting the future state of the world using archaeological data: an exercise in archaeomancy

Article Abstract:

Data is coded from archaeological research, to predict future values of political integration. It is found that political integration has increased during the past 12,000 years following a quadratic curve, and it is suggested that using the quadratic model to predict future values of political integration is reasonable.
