Mutual admiration & a few jokes: the correspondence of Harry Truman with Groucho and Harpo Marx

Article Abstract:

Harry S. Truman appreciated the Marx Brothers long before he became the 33rd US president. After World War II, Groucho and Harpo Marx exchanged several letters with Truman about such topics as displaced persons and Truman's being honored with a marker in an Israeli forest.

Harry Truman, poker player

Article Abstract:

Harry Truman, who considered himself to be lucky in games of chance and in politics, was known for his love for playing poker from the time he was a Judge (or commissioner) and even while he was the U.S. President. Even Winston Churchill once joined him during his visit to U.S. in 1946.
