Parental investment in childhood and educational qualifications: can greater parental involvement mediate the effects of socioeconomic disadvantage?

Article Abstract:

The issues of involvement of parents in their children's lives that can have an important impact on their well-being and in the long term ensure their future success are examined. Results show that though parental involvement in their childrenEs lives was important it depended on the measurement of involvement, economic hardships, gender of the parent and type of involvement.

Black student's graduation from elite colleges: institutional characteristics and between-institution differences

Article Abstract:

The institutional factors that indicate black probability of graduation as well as whether institution that have a high probability of graduation are the same as or different from those where whites don are examined. Results concluded that black and white probabilities of graduation across institutions are highly correlated.

Educational resilience in later life: resources and assets in adolescence and return to education after leaving school at age 16

Article Abstract:

The encouraging factors and procedures involved in educational rebounding among men and women are studied. Results concluded that educational expectations and support in particular were important protective resources needed to build educational resilience.
