The reconfiguration of national innovation systems - The example of German biotechnology

Article Abstract:

The concept of the National System of Innovation (NSI) was applied in order to analyze the interrelation of institutions and technological development. The German biotechnology is focused with a view to prove that the functions of the NSI are a part of the multi-level governance system.

Critical junctures in the development of university high-tech spinout companies

The development of university spinout companies (USOs) is investigated. The four different critical junctures that are opportunity recognition, entrepreneurial commitment, credibility and sustainability needed to be overcome by spinout companies to succeed are identified.
