What percentage of innovations are patented? empirial estimates for European firms

Article Abstract:

An analysis of patenting rates for European firms reveals that patent propensity rates for both products and processes increase with firm size. The study also reveals that large R&D intensive firms do not patent a higher percentage of their innovations than large, less R&D intensive firms and that sectoral differences are less important than firm-level characteristics in process innovations.
