The generality and hegemony of self-control theory: A comparison of Russian and US adults

Article Abstract:

Analysis reveal a general association between self-control and indicators of criminal behavior, however criminal opportunity is found to predict the indicators of misbehavior as well as or perhaps better than, and independently of, self control. Results suggest that the self-control is an important variable in affecting criminal conduct and self-control does not seem to be very powerful.
