Report from a study tour: teen sexuality in the Netherlands, France and Germany

Article Abstract:

The adolescent sexual behavior and responsibility in the Netherlands, France and Germany were studied in a six-city study tour in July and Aug 1998. The study aims to determine the factors behind their low rates of negative outcomes and high rates of positive outcomes in teen pregnancy, births and abortions. The results of site visits, lectures and panel discussions with health educators, youth workers, policy makers, AIDS activists and general practitioners showed the positive influence of access to sexuality education, public information and medical services for the adolescents.

Reproductive health for adolescent refugees

Article Abstract:

The reproductive health services for refugee adolescents in the Kakuma camp in Kenya and the Gueckedou camp in Guinea were evaluated. The study showed that the reproductive health services are not reaching the majority of refugee adolescents. The use of adolescent health intervention methods and learning from the lessons of reproductive health service providers already working in the refugee area were suggested to correct the problem.
