The Warren Court: a retrospective

Article Abstract:

The University of Tulsa College of Law sponsored a seminar focusing on the decisions of the Supreme Court under Earl Warren in the 1950s and 60s. Many of the court's actions were compared to the present court under William Rehnquist. Judge Richard Neely of the West Virginia Supreme Court felt the Warren courts greatest achievement was the uniformity it brought to criminal procedure. Former NAACP director Julius L. Chambers thought the court's failure to set such procedures in civil rights cases has made the current court's regression from the decisions possible.
