The effect of occupational sex composition on the gender gap in workplace authority

Article Abstract:

Research among Jewish women in the Israeli labor force suggests that in male-dominated environments competition between women and men is weaker, so men are less motivated to discriminate against women. The gender difference in authority is greater in occupations dominated by women, with women having the best chances to attain authority when working in male occupations.
