The perversion of The Silence of The Lambs and The Dilemma of The Searchers: On psychoanalytic "reading"

Article Abstract:

Two approaches to the study of films from the perspective of psychoanalysis are examined. It is argued that psychoanalytic 'reading' of films and other cultural objects should at all time be aware of not only the conscious and unconscious meanings in the films, but also of the way that the unconscious thoughts of the person who is 'reading' the film may influence any straightforward interpretation.

Psychoanalysis, the American Psychological Association, and the involvement of psychologists at Guantanamo Bay

Article Abstract:

The difficulties experienced in attempting to change the policy of American Psychological Association (APA) that allows the participation of its members in Guantanamo Bay and other detention centers are discussed.
