Diffusion of E-commerce in Denmark: An analysis of institutional intervention

Article Abstract:

The use of a series of policy statements to promote and shape the take-up of e-commerce in Denmark is analyzed. The study shows that policy makers at the macro and meso levels focus on certain benefits that are assumed to accrue from EDI and inter-organizational systems (IOS), whereas businesses are driven by other perceived benefits related to business relations.

Reviewing policies on satellite broadcasts in East Asia: new technology, political economy, and civil society

Article Abstract:

The political economy of television in countries such as Malaysia, Philippines, and Thailand has been transformed in different ways over the last decade. Accordingly, a discussion on the issue that most policy developments in Asian television have been driven by business and government imperatives rather than by civil society involvement is presented.

Dutch engineering overseas: the creation of a modern irrigation system in Colonial Java

Article Abstract:

The development of modern irrigation in Java within the context of the establishment and transformation of the colonial state in the Dutch East Indies/Indonesia is discussed. The new technologies and techniques used for the irrigation engineering are presented.
