Waging war on chronic pain

Article Abstract:

Doctors cannot measure pain objectively the way they can blood pressure and cholesterol levels, and hence the chart, produced by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organization helps patients rate their pain on a scale of 1 to 10. Chronic pain from arthritis and other sources has become common and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or narcotic pain killers, anti-depressants or anticonvulsants help treat these pains and sometimes massage or ice packs or other alternative therapies such as acupuncture, biofeedback, chiropractic care, guided imagery, homeopathy, medication, naturopathy and yoga helps relieve these pains.

The nutritional-related needs of family caregivers

Article Abstract:

The nutritional status and its relationship to the experience of caregivers and their care recipients are explored. It is observed that the time-consuming tasks of care-giving and the experience of caregiver burden may prevent family caregivers from recognizing the need for maintaining or improving their own nutrition-related health and may also interfere with the ability of caregivers to provide quality nutrition care to their care recipients.
