The social meaning of children's narratives: a review of the attachment-based narrative story stem technique

Article Abstract:

This article examines the meaning of children's responses to a technique that uses story stems and family doll figures to encourage children to create social narratives. Findings indicate that children's responses provide insight into their perceived social relationships and include themes such as parental nurturing, feelings of self-worth, and discipline.

A case study of a maltreated thirteen-year-old boy: using attachment theory to inform treatment in a residential program

Article Abstract:

This article explores the application of attachment theory in the clinical treatment of an abused thirteen year old boy in residential care. The authors, maintaining attachment theory implies previous memories of caregivers builds into internal working model and influence behavior, evaluate attachment therapy in which the internal working model is reconstructed to exhibit behaviors of trust and reliability.

Attachment themes in the family narratives of preschool children: a qualitative analysis

Article Abstract:

This article discusses a case study in which a female and male pre-school child rated with high social competence were compared with a female and male pre-school child rated with low social competence. The author, analyzing problem solving techniques, role modeling, parent's responsiveness to the child's needs, and emotional expression, concludes that parent-child relationships influence children's behavior.
