Neurological disassociations of social perception processes

Article Abstract:

There is strong support for the hypothesis that the brain's left and right hemispheres process social stimuli with different levels of efficiency. The hemispheres appear to compete for priority in decision making, partly operating independently of each other.

Research presented concerns how culture influences how people use personality traits to understand and describe human behavior. A study of spontaneous trait use in Anglo-Americans and Latinos reflects differences in cultural cognitive practices.

Face categorization, graded priming, and the mediating influences of similarity

Article Abstract:

Instance-based and abstraction-based categorization models have been contrasted experimentally. Comparisons between prime and target face photographs has shown similarity significantly influences categorization.
