Modulating effect of alcohol use on cocaine use

Article Abstract:

Alcohol may be used by cocaine/crack users to attenuate negative effects of cocaine. Cocaine/alcohol users were interviewed and a path analysis model tested hypotheses about the possible modulating effects of alcohol use on cocaine use. Around 60% reported using alcohol often to ameliorate the discomfort linked to reducing or ceasing cocaine/crack use.

A latent variable analysis of coexisting emotional deficits in substance abusers: alexithymia, hostility, and PTSD

Article Abstract:

It has been possible to identify a link across latent variables reflecting Bottled-Up Emotions, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder and Hostility symptoms in substance abusers that did not depend on the substance abused.
