Agriculture as an upholder of cultural heritage? Conceptualizations and value judgments-A Norwegian perspective in international context

Article Abstract:

An investigation is carried out about the connection between agriculture and cultural heritage as expressed by public and private actors who define the policy agenda, namely the cultural heritage or environmental, the agricultural and tourism sectors. The Norwegian case, compared to the international context showed that within a Nordic context active farming and cultural heritage is positively linked and the farmer is seen as a major caretaker, while in documents from dominant international actors cultural heritage is seen as something on the side of active farming.

Agricultural body-building: Incorporations of gender, body and work

A study is conducted to explore the aspects of gendered embodiment of agricultural work, particularly the connection between women's gender identity and the body at work. The analysis reveals that there is no one to one relationship between work and the meaning of the embodied self, and highlights the complex and ironic relationship between machinery and femininities.
