Analyses de contenu et de discours dans la recherche sociologique francaise: pratiques micro-informatiques actuelles et potentielles

Article Abstract:

The acronym CAQDAS (Computer-Assisted Qualitative Data Analysis Software) is not familiar to sociologists in France, where the methodological approach to textual analysis reflects the influence of the sociolinguistic tradition. Current approaches to textual analysis include lexicometric, classical content analysis, word association networks, and psycholinguistic methods. Some software has been developed for textual engineering, analysis of sociological surveys and for specific research problems. Article text is in French.

Nonrandom measurement error and race of interviewer effects among African Americans

Article Abstract:

The influence of the interviewer's racial consciousness on the political behaviors and attitudes of African Americans was analyzed. The support for Jesse Jackson was used as a political variable that was linked with the idea of racial consciousness. In view of this, nonrandom measurement error's substantive and statistical consequences based on the interviewer's race influences were illustrated.

The measurement of current cost data: implications for economic analyses

Article Abstract:

Analysis of research on the measurement of the current cost (CC) data in financial accounting and reporting literatures reveals the prevalence of exaggeration bias in CC estimates of industry machinery and equipment. This bias can be mitigated to a large extent by using tax adjusted fundamental value models.
