And did the walls come tumbling down? Ethnic residential segregation in four U.S. metropolitan areas 1980-2000

Article Abstract:

The four metropolitan areas of U.S. that have experienced changes due to substantial ethnic residential segregation are explored by using the data provided by the 2000 U.S. census. The extent of desegregation during the previous 20 years for each of the four main census ethnic groups is given.

Quality-of-life research in urban geography

The period of 1980s witnessed the emergence of many new theories and concepts of urban geography. The main developments in urban geography in 1980s that are related to quality-of-life research are discussed.
