Assessment of posttraumatic symptoms in children: development and preliminary validation of parent and child scales

Article Abstract:

The effectiveness of parent and child scales for assessing posttraumatic symptoms in children is analyzed. Intended applications include postdisaster screening and screening for posttraumatic stress in children presenting with various problems. A sample of 206 schoolchildren, together with their parents, completed the measures including a summary of the child's trauma-losses.

Social work services on an organ transplantation program: a preliminary cost-benefit analysis

Article Abstract:

An evaluation is presented on the cost effectiveness of social service utilization within the framework of organ transplant procedures. Findings show that expenditures for effective social work services can meet economic mandates while benefiting patients who demonstrate the greatest need for these services.

Preliminary validation of the juvenile first offender risk assessment index

A study preliminarily validating the First Offender Risk Assessment Index for predicting recidivism among juvenile offenders is discussed. Topics include a review of prediction instruments, methodology used to validate the study, study results, and use of the Index as a preventative approach.
