Bangkok declaration on irregular migration

Article Abstract:

Irregular migration should be addressed in a comprehensive manner which includes the study of its root causes. Greater efforts should be involved in helping refugees instead of refusing their entry based on economic reasons. Nations should recognize the need for international cooperation to promote sustained economic growth and sustainable development in the countries of origin as a long-term solution to irregular migration. Raising the level of public awareness can help curb the adverse effects of migrant trafficking and related abuse.

Julia Taft on migration

Article Abstract:

The Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration (PRM) works with other government agencies in ensuring the safety of migrants and refugees around the world as the US leads international efforts concerning migration. While the bureau's focus is on dangerous and uncontrolled migration, Assistant Secretary Julia Vadala Taft would also like the PRM to emphasize the humanitarian aspects of migration. In fact, the bureau is working on a special project to stop trafficking of women.

Where is U.S. leadership?

Article Abstract:

The plight of the Palestinians and Israelis should be seen as matters of serious consideration for many reasons aside from the nation's security. Foreign policymakers should be aware of the importance of international migration in post-cold war international relations. There must be a public acknowledgement of past wrongdoing, since true peace can only be attained in the event of reciprocated forgiveness.
